BÖZICH | Indiana Rises, Kentucky Slips on My AP College Basketball Top 25 Ballot | Sports

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – That didn’t take long. Five teams that ranked in the top 10 in the AP College Basketball Poll lost last week.

The fun continues this week with five top 25 teams competing in the eight-team field in the Maui Invitation, which begins Monday.

Regarding my ballot that I submitted for the top 25, the AP is published at noon:

  1. North Carolina (4-0): At least two computer rankings don’t have the Tar Heels in the top 10, but that seems silly.
  2. Houston (5-0): The Cougars won Sunday night in Oregon with their best player on the bench for most of the first half.
  3. Virginia (4-0): The Cavaliers will not play at the NIT this season.
  4. Kansas (4-0): Somehow, the Jayhawks survived without a suspended Dollar Bill Self.
  5. Arkansas (3-0): Not a great Maui welcome moment for Louisville on Monday.
  6. Arizona (3-0): The Wildcats are in the opposing group in Maui, maybe they will meet the Razorbacks in the finals.
  7. Texas (3-0): The Longhorns beat Gonzaga, but the game was in Austin and Chris Beard won’t be playing away until New Year’s Eve. Weak.
  8. Gonzaga (3-1): The Zags did to Kentucky what Texas did to the Zags.
  9. Indiana (4-0): An away win against Xavier should bring the Hoosiers in on selection Sunday.
  10. Baylor (4-1): The Bears rebounded from their loss to Virginia by handling UCLA.
  11. Michigan State (3-1): The Spartans are so close to a 4-0 — or 2-2.
  12. Duke (3-1): The Blue Devils welcome Bellarmine to Cameron Indoor on Monday night.
  13. Creighton (4-0): The Blue Jays are the third pick in Maui.
  14. Illinois (4-1): The Illini handled UCLA in the second half and had Virginia on the ropes until the final minutes.
  15. San Diego State (3-0): Make it four top-15 teams in Maui. No shabby field.
  16. Kentucky (3-2): The Wildcats played Gonzaga from behind all night. I’m not sure about that backcourt.
  17. UCLA (3-2): The Bruins traveled to Las Vegas undefeated and went home with two losses.
  18. Auburn (4-0): The Tigers’ best win came against … good luck.
  19. UConn (5-0): The Huskies blitzed five nobodies.
  20. Maryland (5-0): The Terps, who visit Louisville next week, had a solid weekend, beating Saint Louis and Miami (Florida).
  21. Purdue (3-0): The Boilermakers get West Virginia this week.
  22. Alabama (4-0): The Crimson Tide plays Michigan State on Thanksgiving night.
  23. Xavier (3-1): If Adam Kunkel’s shot goes in goal, the Musketeers could have beaten Indiana.
  24. Saint Mary’s (5-0): Randy Bennett’s team never goes away.
  25. Toledo (3-0): The Rockets have a solid, veteran squad.
