Kelly McVey, President and Founder of the Indiana Peony Festival, Inc., has announced that Duke Energy will serve as the title sponsor for the Indiana Peony Trail.
The company’s long-standing commitment to building and supporting the communities it serves aligns with the community mission and vision of the Indiana Peony Trail. Duke Energy’s support will have an immediate and measurable impact, allowing for the expansion of the Peony Trail’s natural footprint and creating thriving natural habitats and pollinator habitats throughout Noblesville.
“We are excited to support the Indiana Peony Festival, a popular annual tradition that brings the community together to celebrate our state flower,” said Mark LaBarr, Duke Energy’s government and community relations manager. “Partnering with local business owners, nonprofits and organizations, we hope the Indiana Peony Trail will bring this year’s celebrations to new areas of the city and provide fun and enjoyment for those who call Noblesville home throughout the month of May.”
The mission of the Indiana Peony Trail Powered by Duke Energy is to partner with businesses, nonprofits and other philanthropic groups to plant peony gardens with the goal of creating Noblesville the desired peony destination for local, regional and national tourism.
As part of the Indiana Peony Festival, the Indiana Peony Trail Powered by Duke Energy aims to motivate volunteers to beautify underserved, diverse areas of the city and create educational and informational programs for the outdoors using Indiana’s state flower.
The 26 original supporters of the Indiana Peony Trail were instrumental in starting the project, and sponsorship from Duke Energy will provide accelerated momentum for the trail’s growth. Duke Energy’s sponsorship will support the planting of 1,000 peonies — 500 this winter and 500 in the spring of 2023. Shifting plantings have already taken place at several locations in Noblesville, including Noblesville City Hall, Noblesville High School Roundabout, Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville, the Hamilton County Courthouse and Janus Developmental Services.
