BLOOMINGTON, Indiana — Indiana did business at home on Sunday, defeating Michigan State 82-69. There were many bright spots of the day including the return of Race Thompson after missing nearly three weeks with an MCL sprain.
It was a big team win for the Hoosiers. Tamar Bates and Trey Galloway both scored 17 points and helped the Hoosiers shoot 60 percent from three-point range. Trayce Jackson-Davis had another explosive game with 31 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots.
The Hoosiers are now 13-6 for the season and 4-4 in the Big Ten. They have won three games in a row after losing their first three league games of the new year. They turned this around in a hurry, and they did it by continuing to work hard and staying confident.
“That says a lot. They’re not quitters,” said Indiana coach Mike Woodson. “I’ve been part of teams that just shut down and said, ‘I’m done. But these guys are playing for something. The Big Ten championship and title are still out there. Someone has to win it. You’re still competitive and you have to stay competitive and stay humble and practice hard and do all the things that are necessary before you can prepare for a ball game.
