“We’re going to try to build a fence around this state.”

Purdue’s head coach Ryan Walters said on his first day as head coach of the Boilermakers, making it clear that the state of Indiana is a priority when recruiting for its new hires.

Walters has to compete with Notre Dame and Indiana for state recruits, not to mention college football powerhouses like Ohio State, which have been tapping into the Indiana pipeline in recent years.

“There’s a lot of quality football, not just from a player’s perspective, but really great coaches in this state.” said Walters.

Purdue’s first recruiting class under Walters will be in 2024, and there are already a number of state recruits on the boilermakers’ radar. Who are some of the prospects these new Purdue employees will be approaching to establish their recruiting presence in the state?
