Rutter’s Lifts starting wage at $17.50 an hour

YORK, Pa. & FORT WORTH, Texas—Rutters announced another increase in his starting wage, with pay starting at $17.50 per hour. This is the company’s second increase this year and seventh in three years.

Since December 2019, Rutter’s has increased wages by more than 70%. Rutter’s team members and field workers are getting the latest pay rise, with full-time team members earning over $36,400 per year. Rutter’s was recognized as one of Forbes Top Mid-Size Employers for 2021.

“We have amazing people at Rutter’s and want to recognize them for their continued dedication as industry leaders,” said Suzanne Cramer, Rutter’s vice president of human resources. “With the New Year just around the corner, we’re excited to once again increase our wages for our team members and field workers and want to thank them for their hard work!”

Rutter’s starting hourly wage is well above the industry average. In 2021, the average starting wage for a full-time grocery store worker was $13.14 per hour and the average part-time wage for a sales representative was $11 per hour, according to the NACS State of the Industry Compensation Report® of 2021 Data.

Convenience retailers can also access the Good Jobs Calculator, developed exclusively for NACS and the convenience industry. This tool allows retailers to use their own data and adjusted assumptions about the extent of improvement or increase achievable, and executives can run scenarios about the impact of a Good Jobs system on the bottom line.

This achievement follows a spate of activity for the company over the past 12 months, including the acquisition of chain store Tres Amigos in September and the opening of new concept store Allsup’s Express in August next to the Texas Tech University campus in Lubbock, Texas, and announced previously announced the opening of new Allsup’s stores in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

The company recently opened Allsup stores in Fort Stockton, Hawley and Millsap, Texas. These brand new and refurbished Allsup’s stores each have 5,630 square feet of retail space, 24 service stations and high-speed diesel service stations. Yesway has opened 39 new and relocated stores to date in 2022.

These are the latest of the new large format stores that Yesway has developed and is rapidly rolling out, with more expected to be completed by the end of the year. The shops are open 24/7 and offer a full selection of Yesway and Allsup own-brand snacks; a new trucker/automotive division; quality fresh Allsup’s bread, milk and eggs; beer cave; and amenities like Western Union service, ATM availability, and Coin Cloud digital ATMs with over 30 digital currencies.
