Looking at the scoreboard alone, the San Diego State Aztecs (6-4, 4-6 ATS) clearly dominate the New Mexico Lobos (2-8, 3-6-1 ATS). However, take a similar look at the rivalry from a betting perspective and it is the Lobos who are the dominant club.

San Diego State has won 8-0 in the last eight games between the two schools. New Mexico has not defeated the Aztecs in a game since 2008.

Factor in the point distribution and the matchup paints a very different picture. New Mexico is 12-4 against the spread in their last 16 games against San Diego State.

Nonetheless, it is the Aztecs who are seeded as 14.5-point street favorites over the Lobos in the recent renewal of this rivalry. San Diego State is 1-6 ATS in their last seven games in New Mexico.

Another low blow for Lobos

New Mexico was beaten 35-3 by the Air Force Falcons and took it again on the chin. In the past four weeks, the Lobos have been surpassed 124-45 in four losses. New Mexico has not managed to score more than 14 points in any of those games.

New Mexico ranks 129th in the FBS with 131 schools when it comes to offenses. The Lobos collect 14.7 points per game. They’ve been held to 10 points or fewer in four games this season. Mayden makes it for San Diego State

Last week’s 43-27 win over San Jose State made the Aztecs Bowl eligible to play. San Diego State quarterback Jalen Mayden was a double threat in the defeat of the Spartans.

Mayden completed 77.3% of his passes (17 out of 22). He threw for three touchdowns against an interception. Mayden’s feet grazed 61 yards on 13 carries at game height. The performance earned him the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week award.

Receiver Tyrell Shavers caught four passes for 111 yards and a TD.

San Diego State vs New Mexico Prediction

Certainly New Mexico seems to be cannon fodder for the state of San Diego. The Lobos are 0-7 SU in their last seven games and 0-5 ATS in their last five games.

This is the eighth time in the last nine games between the two schools that the Aztecs are in double figures. They are 1-6 ATS in this scenario over the last seven results. This includes a 0-2 ATS board in New Mexico.

Choice: New Mexico +14.5 (-110).
