These are the most common birds to see in North Dakota

STACKER – Stacker has compiled a list of the most common birds seen near feeders in North Dakota using data from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s FeederWatch project. Birds are ranked by the percentage of sites visited from November 1st to 11th. Ties are broken by average group size when seen, all further ties have not been broken. Data was collected at 10 sites in North Dakota. States with fewer than 10 census points were not included in the ranking for each bird.

Project FeederWatch, a citizen science project in which participants collect data about birds at their feeders, was founded in Ontario in 1976 by Erica Dunn and the Long Point Bird Observatory. The project partnered with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology after 10 years to scale the project across the US and Canada and now has over 20,000 participants.

The data collected by the FeederWatch project is used by scientists to understand trends in bird populations. If you would like to participate as a FeederWatcher, you can find out more about the project here.
