The payment was funded from a $10 million pot approved by state lawmakers earlier this year.

New Mexicans had to apply for the relief and were chosen based on their income level.

Officials have confirmed that at least 24,750 residents have received the one-time aid payment.

David Scrase MD, Cabinet Secretary to the New Mexico Human Services Secretary, said, “We know many families are still struggling to meet their basic needs and this support will help them this holiday season.”

Angela Medrano, the assistant secretary of the New Mexico Human Services Department, said, “Many low-income families in New Mexico have suffered significant economic and personal losses.

“These funds will help people in our communities who need the extra money to feed and house their families.”

Unsuccessful applicants have received an email notifying them of the country’s decision.

Applications that have already been rejected will not be re-examined by the officials.

New Mexico isn’t the only state offering relief to struggling Americans amid inflation.

Idaho taxpayers have until the end of the year to request a refund of up to $600.

Americans who resided in Idaho throughout 2020 and 2021 and filed a personal state income tax return are eligible for the cash.

Single parents can get up to $300, according to the Idaho State Tax Commission, while couples filing joint tax returns can get up to $600.

Or they may receive a payment equal to 10 percent of their 2020 income taxes — whichever is greater.

HELPING HAND

Officials expect around 800,000 payments worth up to $500 million to be made by the end of March 2023.

The state began processing rebates in September and the relief is being sent via direct deposit and through the mail.

And Americans can check the status of their payment through the state’s Where’s My Rebate tool.

Troubled homeowners in the city of Boise can also apply for a property tax refund program starting Dec. 1.

Mayor Lauren McLean approved $1.2 million in funding for low-income people, veterans, the elderly and the disabled in November.

Applications will be accepted from December 1st to May 1st, 2023.

Cities across the country have implemented guaranteed income schemes to help struggling Americans.
